Dog Skin & Coat Supplements

Many dogs can experience issues with skin and coat health during their lifetime. Some breeds, such as West Highland Terriers and Shar Peis, are even predisposed to skin and coat problems. In milder cases, some conditions may just require change to grooming routines or medicated shampoo. However, more serious complications with a dog’s skin and coat can be a sign of underlying health problems. That’s why ZamiPet has formulated dog vitamins for healthy coats to address some of these problems, helping to restore comfort for your dog, with a glossy, healthy coat. Read More

Allergic Reactions

Many people don't realise that some of the most common medical complaints for dogs are actually allergy related. Dust, pollen (especially in the Spring time), household cleaning products and other environmental factors can irritate your dog's skin. Dogs may also have allergies to certain ingredients in food, such as wheat, corn or different kinds of protein. If your dog is presenting a rash and appears to be displaying other symptoms of being unwell, consult your vet to find out whether they it may be an allergy. Although dog skin supplements cannot cure allergies, ZamiPet Skin, Coat & Nails have been specially formulated with anti-allergenic ingredients to help reduce skin irritation, redness and itchiness.

Another common cause of inflamed, red or itchy skin for dogs is infection. These might be old wounds that have not been properly treated, bacterial skin infections, yeast or fungal infections, or even your dog not being bathed correctly. Whatever the cause of infection, visit your vet to diagnose the exact type of infection and treatment plan to get your pet healthy and comfortable again.

You can also consider using a supplement like dog vitamins for the skin and coat, which can help to support a healthy skin barrier, minimising the risk of future infections.

External Parasites

At some point, every dog will likely have to contend with external parasites. Even the best-kept coat and cleanest skin are not necessarily a defence from fleas and other pests, which can bite your dog and cause constant irritation. Other parasites such as certain types of ticks inject poison while sucking out blood, which can lead to serious illness and potentially death if untreated. The best defence for your dog is to keep up to date with their regular flea and tick treatments.

Other Underlying Conditions

While vitamins for your dog's coat may help to improve a dull coat or poor skin condition, these symptoms can also be the sign of other undiagnosed illnesses.

Checking your dog's skin and fur regularly can be a great bonding exercise and also help detect any lumps and bumps early on so they can be addressed with your vet as soon as possible.

Dog Vitamins for Skin & Coat Can Help

Fortunately, many minor skin and coat conditions experienced by your pet can be addressed with dog skin and coat supplements. Better still, if your best friend belongs to a breed that is prone to skin and coat health issues, proactively using skin and coat supplements for dogs can help reduce the likelihood of complications in the future. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I best feed my dog a ZamiPet chew?

Developed for easy feeding, the unique clover-shaped ZamiPet chew can be consumed whole or broken into segments. Please refer to the directions for use to determine the recommended daily serve based on your dog's weight, or speak to your animal health professional.

Are the ZamiPet chews soft enough to break apart?

Yes! We've developed the ZamiPet chews so they can be broken into smaller pieces, so you can vary the dosage depending on your dog's weight. They’re also perfect for smaller or fussy dogs who might find smaller pieces more manageable.

What is the best way to store my ZamiPet chews?

Always store your ZamiPet chews below 30°C out of direct sunlight, protected from moisture, heat and light. To maximise freshness, always keep the container tightly closed.

Can I use ZamiPet chews as frequent treats or rewards?

Whilst your dog will no doubt love our chews and see them as delicious treats, the ZamiPet range has been specially formulated for supplemental use and should only be dispensed as per the directions for use, or as recommended by your animal health professional.

For the perfect treat for dogs with added health benefits, explore our range of ZamiPet HappiTreats™.

My dog is a fussy eater and won't be easily tricked into trying something new. How will I go feeding the ZamiPet range to my pet?

There's a fussy eater in every household! We've formulated our ZamiPet chews to make them super-tasty and irresistible to dogs, using locally sourced chicken and salmon.

But just like people, dogs have individual food preferences. This can create some challenges and frustration for pet parents when trying to introduce something new to your pet’s diet. We've written a blog, 11 Ways to Introduce New Foods to Your Dog, which provides some steps for how to introduce new foods and treats to your best friend.

Should I feed my dog its ZamiPet chews at mealtime?

ZamiPet chews can be fed to your dog at any time of the day as per the recommended dosage. However, the easiest way to always remember your dog's ZamiPet chew, is to feed alongside your pet's main meal. For optimal results, it’s best to give your dog the prescribed number of chews in one feeding.

Is it OK to give my dog different products from the ZamiPet range at the same time?

Our Australian vets have formulated the ZamiPet range so that products can be paired together depending on the health needs of your pet, both safely and effectively. Please ensure you always follow the feeding guidelines on the label or speak to your animal health professional.

Are ZamiPet products made in Australia?

Our ZamiPet premium supplement range, as well as the ZamiPet HappiTreats™ range are both manufactured in Australia.

Can I give my dog ZamiPet HappiTreats™ as well as ZamiPet premium health supplements?

Yes! ZamiPet HappiTreats™ have been specially formulated for use in conjunction with ZamiPet premium health supplements for optimal health. Please refer to the feeding guide for the correct dosage for your pet.
